Announcing the Rangers Academy Community Exchange

Dear Rangers Academy Families,

Rangers Academy is proud to announce a new chapter in our mission to bring soccer to our community. We have created the Rangers Academy Community Exchange. This will be a program by which we collect gently used soccer gear and make it available to children in our community. Our plan is to make the program community-wide, including a heavy focus on children coming through the DeKalb County YMCA youth soccer program. The program would include the collection and distribution of shoes, shin guards, socks, balls, goalie gloves, and anything else that might come to mind.

The intended purpose of Rangers Academy Community Exchange is to make soccer more accessible to everyone. We all know that increasing accessibility to this beautiful game improves our community in countless ways. The mission of the Rangers Academy Community Exchange: More gear. Better gear. Gear for all.

Our plan is to have the program up and running before the spring outdoor soccer season starts, which means we will be moving quickly over the coming weeks. We soon will begin collecting donations, and shortly thereafter we will begin making the gear available to the public. Again, the plan is to have the gear available before spring practices start—and before families begin spending money that they might not need to spend.

The purpose of this announcement is twofold: First, to announce the program so that you can begin organizing that gear in your home that still has life left in it. Second, to invite volunteers to assist in the implementation of the program. The time demand will be limited, with peaks of activity at the beginning and end of each season. We are hoping to find five to ten individuals willing to help. If you have been looking for a way to contribute to Rangers Academy or to the local soccer community, this is your chance.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Ben Ice at 260-348-5886 (feel free to text) or at [email protected].

Otherwise, get ready to give your gently used gear another life!
