We have a potentially exciting opportunity for any girls born in 2009-2010. We had our meeting with the State last night and we believe there is an opportunity for a Rangers Girls / Co-Ed Select League (Rec+) 12u (2009-2010) team. More information is below but we need to gauge the level of interest before we register a team. If you have any interest, please complete this GOOGLE FORM by Wednesday 2/24. WHO: Girls born in 2009-2010
WHAT: Indiana NESSL league (Northeast Select Soccer League) program. This level of play is typically above the recreational level that is offered at local youth programs such as the Auburn YMCA, NASA or the Garrett Youth program but below a “Travel” team.
OPPONENTS: Depending on the other teams that enter it could be a Girls only league but more likely would have Co-Ed Teams and maybe even some all Boys teams. On the Google form we have asked a few questions about your willingness to play depending on the makeup of the other teams. Please note that we still would encourage us to play even if the other teams are all Co-Ed or even if some of the teams are all boys. The reason for this is we are much more concerned about giving the Girls the opportunity to play with a Girls only team with the hope that next season we can enter a Girls team in the Indiana Soccer League (ISL) as a travel team at the 11v11 (13u/14u age) group.
PRACTICES / ACADEMY: This team would start to practice in April (maybe earlier depending on the weather), once a week for an hour. It will also include our outdoor weekly Academy practice so the girls would get at least two hours each week of training.
GAMES: The scheduling meeting isn’t until 3/15 but the games will be on the weekend between 4/3-6/6. The furthest team away that we know is Warsaw but the other teams in the league will likely be from Fort Wayne area, Columbia City, Huntington…
PRICE: $150 for the spring season which includes the weekly practices and academy as well as the games (which includes a player card and referee payment) and a Ranger shirt. In order to keep the cost down we plan to wear the Rangers shirts for the uniform. However, if there is enough interest we could get shirts made just for this team.
CURRENT TRAVEL PLAYERS: If you are a current Ranger travel player and are interested in doing this in addition to the travel soccer, please let us know. We hope to arrange the practices and most of the games around the 11u & 12u schedules but can’t guarantee anything yet. We would love for you to be able to do both and would work with you as much as possible to make this happen. The cost would be reduced since your travel fee already includes the academy and we can discuss the pricing in more detail once we see how many players we have and how the game schedules match up with the travel schedules. Again, the ideal situation is that this is the foundation for these girls to play as a Travel Team going forward so we want as many girls as possible being connected with this team.
