Bringing Home the Gold!!!
DGR's VFW Vipers Bring Home the Gold in the 5 County Cup Eric Cole Memorial Soccer Tournament for the U14 Girls Division.
For the first time in league history, DGR Soccer has a 5 County Cup Eric Cole Memorial Soccer Tournament Champion in the U14 Girls Division. They are also DGR's first 5 County Cup Tournament Champion. The VFW Vipers defeated Valley View to make history as the first champions from our league. This comes a day after Senatore Auto became the first team to medal (2nd place) in the same tournament for the U12 Girls division.
After going down a goal midway through the second quarter, VFW rallied in the second half with goals by Emma Coar and Leila Scanlan. They had a chance to put the nail in the coffin with a PK, but that shot was blocked by the Valley keeper. A strong midfield performance by Gillian Coar and a stellar defense headed by Juliana Penetar helped seal the deal for the Vipers.
Congrats to
Olivia Burke, Molly Butler, Caitlyn Coar, Caroline Coar, Emma Coar, Gillian Coar, Clare Collins, Shannon Czekaj, Valentina Germain, Sierra McGinnity, Nora McGrath, Cecelia McMullen, Zoe Mulligan, Caroline Nolen, Isabella Paoli, Elisa Penetar, Juliana Penetar, Lauren Pichiarella, Leila Scanlan, Grace Wiercinski, Head Coach Tom Coar and Assistant Coach Bob McGinnity on not only bringing home the gold, but also for making history!
